The village is mainly agricultural, although fifty per cent of the surface is waste and occupied by grazing lands, woods and thickets. Most of the crops are unirrigated crops, and there is a few area next to the river where there are irrigated ones. The most important crop is the vineyard, and are also quite important the olive and the almond trees and the cereals. The Agricultural Cooperative was not created until 1950, because during the first half of the century the local economy had been based on the mining. The agriculture was a complementary activity. Nowadays, they are almost abandoned because they are not economically profitable. Most of the mines are fairly deep, and re full of water. Some of this
water is used for watering the lands near the mines. |
